As Christmas approaches Island school-children are once again being encouraged to enter their MP, Andrew Turner’s Christmas Card design competition.

Island primary and middle school pupils are once again being invited to design the MP’s Christmas card, the theme for which, this year, is ‘A Christmas Carol’.

Last year’s winner was 12 year-old Amy Salter, of Nodehill Middle School, Newport.

The closing date for entries is the 3rd November and 3 independent judges will pick the winner of the competition the next day. Entries can be made through the youngsters’ schools but entries can also be sent independently as long as the name and address and age of the entrant is shown clearly so that their work can be returned. All Island primary and middle schools have been sent full details of the competition and both the winner and their school will receive a prize of Christmas cards for their own use.

Mr Turner said,

Although I don’t get involved in the judging I always enjoy looking at the entries for this competition as they come in, and I am looking forward to seeing the winning entry on my 2007 Christmas card.”
