Andrew Turner MP is keen for businesses on the Isle of Wight to enter the Mechanical Engineer’s Manufacturing Excellence Awards for 2008. These awards are a showcase for best practice in the field of manufacturing throughout the UK and your MP believes that Islanders should seize the chance to show what they can offer even if they are just roller blades

Mr Turner said:
“The Isle of Wight has a long history of manufacturing and this is something to be immensely proud of. Aircraft, boats, hovercraft and energy generation are just some of the mainstays of our manufacturing industry, and there are many more small but equally innovative and dynamic firms on the Island.

Not only should we celebrate manufacturing industry at a national level, these awards represent an opportunity for firms of any size to demonstrate their value to their local community and beyond.”

The deadline for entries is 28th February 2008 and will be judged by some of the UK’s top business experts. The awards range from Best Overall Business, Best SME, Best Sustainable Manufacturer, Product Innovation, and Best Business Education Partnership. Furthermore, each firm that enters is entitled to a free, bespoke Benchmark report from a panel of manufacturing experts which offers advice on how to improve your business’ performance. If you are interested in entering, please visit www.mxawards.org or email h_morgan@imeche.org.
