A crèche which provides places for children from across the bay area has been praised by the Island’s MP. Andrew Turner MP visited the GFS platform at Winchester House in Shanklin. They have recently been awarded a ten thousand pound grant by the Lottery Fund. The GFS runs community projects for young women 14-25 who are either pregnant or have pre-schooled aged children.
Andrew Turner MP says;
“The work of the GFS platform is extremely important and I welcome that this society has been awarded such a generous grant to carry on its good work. The GFS provides crèche facilities, educational training and most importantly a crucial network of support for these young and often vulnerable women. I hope this grant allows them to improve and expand, helping an even greater number of young mothers to take control of their own lives.
I was particularly impressed to read the excellent OFSTED report on the crèche, which provides a much needed local facility.”
