During the General Election campaign arrangements for the office of Island MP Andrew Turner will be changed, he announced on Tuesday.
Constitutionally, Mr Turner ceases to be a Member of Parliament from the time Parliament is dissolved which seems likely to be on Monday 11th April. Like all other constituencies, the Island will then be left without an MP until the announcement of the election result which is likely to be Friday 6th May.
Mr Turner said,
“From Monday my constituency office at 24 The Mall, will be manned by a skeleton staff. We will pass on outstanding replies to correspondence and constituents’ enquiries, and follow up issues that cannot be left until May. But during this period we will not be able to run surgeries or offer the level of service which as Member of Parliament I aim to provide as that would be an improper use of resources.
“All enquiries to do with my re-election campaign and offers of help should be addressed to my Campaign Head Quarters at 58 The Mall.
“It has been a privilege and an honour to serve Islanders for the last four years as their Member of Parliament and I very much hope to continue serving them once the election is over.”
