A Node Hill School pupil has won the Island MP’s annual Christmas Card competition.

Amy Salter’s design was judged the best of nearly 600 entries by an independent panel consisting of representatives of the Quay Arts Centre, the IW County Press and Andrew Turner’s office. Amy, who is 12 years old and lives in Newport, received her prize of a book token and Christmas cards for her own family’s use at a special assembly on the last day of term, 16th December.

Mr Turner said,

“Amy’s was a very distinctive design which portrayed with utter clarity the traditional nativity scene with Mary, Joseph and the Christ child, the three magi, and one of the heavenly host.

“As always the quality was very high and for the first time some other entries were specifically commended by the judges, but Amy’s stood out as the entry of a very talented pupil, and I warmly congratulate her on her success.”
