Ventnor’s RSPCA shop received two VIP visitors today (Monday) – along with two other special guests. The organization’s national director-general, Jackie Ballard, at the start of a day on the Island, met Island MP Andrew Turner.
Mr Turner, who is also shadow minister for charities, introduced Miss Ballard to his two rescue dogs Bert and Pickle. He said,
“The thing I like about the RSPCA shop in Ventnor is that all the proceeds are kept locally and go to the Animal Centre at Bohemia Corner. That’s where we got Pickle from, and I’m told there is waiting list of pets for re-homing, so it’s an essential local need.
“I also discussed with Miss Ballard the needs of charities like the RSPCA and the sort of advice they can offer on controversial issues like animal testing.”
